4-H County Council

_The county council of the Rappahannock 4-H dabs met at the Courthouse in Washington, Saturday, November 11.
24 members, the farm and borne agents and four leaders were prep**5 ent.
The meeting was called to order by the president, Bobby Carter, Everyone repeated the club pledge and motto. The devotional leader, Jacob Sisk, conducted devotionals.
Each president introduced himself and his officers and leaders.
County Agent W. H. Lyne stated the purpose of the meeting which was for everyone present to get more “know how” and to help ; his neighbor; I.,; ?
■Group singing was led by song leader, Betty Johnson.
The, council divided into small groups. Presidents and vice presidents met with Mrs. Frank Car7, secretaries - with Mrs. Graham Hackley and song leaders with Mrs. W. A. Gentry. Miss Janet Sollenberger led the game leaders and Rev. Paul Thompson the devotional leaders. Each officer was told bis duties in the qlub and how, to help to carry on a good meeting. V
The council discussed the goals for the coming year. A new goal was adopted as follows: money twill be made for the county council and each club will pay dues to the council of 5c per member. In the absence of the secretary, Miss Sollenberger read the minutes of the last meeting.————-—
The election of officers followed. Bobby Carter was re-elected president, Betty Rutherford was elected vice president, Rosa Belle Williams song leader, Carlyle Lea game leader, Francis Scroggins devotional leader and Betty Sisk reporter. These officers will serve in the coming year.
A money raising committee was appointed by the president.
As the closing event of Na. tional 4-H Achievement Week, the annual county awards were gi-’en. The winners were: Jacob Sisk, achievement and meat animal awards; Kelly Updike, field crops, and Evelyn Mills, clothing: Bonnie Gentry won the cooking award. Nelson and- Lyne Atkins poultry and Lelia Gentry achievement and Home Improvement.
The meeting then adjourned.
