Sloan Murder Trial
Set For December 12
Adelaide Sloan, colored, was in* dieted by the grand jury Monday and the trial was set for Tuesday, December 12.
The grand jury of five, composed of C.E. Johnson, Jr., H. S. Barksdale, W. L. Yancey, and AH. Buckner, and Charlie Jackson, colored, served when Adelaide Sloan was indicted for murder in the shooting of her brother, William Sloan, on Sunday afternoon, August 27, at Pine Knot Inn. The indictment was general and did not state whether first or second degree murder was the charge.
Represented by James W. Fletcher, Adelaide Sloan pleaded nob guilty.
Commonwealth Attorney Raynor V. Snead requested an increase in bond. This request wad refused by Judge J. R. H. Alexander, who deemed the present bond of $10,000 adequate without proof of charges.
