Monday, November 20, proudly every letter and package (will bear the double4>arred cross and seal of the Tuberculosis Association.
This is one time that war is waged with pride and love. The money with which you purchase the little Christmas seals is used to fight disease—an insiduous, sneaky germ that creeps into the homes of the United States and robs. It strikes the old and „ the y<}!jng. It hears down upon the father, and deprives the family of its means of support. It leaves little children motherless. It snatcheg the baby out of the home.
Every person can join in this battle against this disease by the purchase of the cheerful little' seals.
This year the seal carries the picture of three cherubs and the one word, Greetings. Every year’s seal bears the date and the doublebarred cross of the T-B Association.
Early Thanksgiving
Don’t look my way! I didn’t do it I And I don’t even know who set the date for Thanksgiving. A fellow in Warrenton Tuesday afternoon tried to argue me down that Thanksgiving was November 30— the last Thursday in the month . . All I know is that the calendar has the 23rd in red letters—and just wait and see if you get the mail that day.
It really doesn’t matter. You can eat that Turkey just as Well the following Thursday if it pleases you to do so. But you’ll find that your football tickets are good for the 23rd—and they are not going to play those games two Thursdays in succession, of that I feel most certain!
It was Ogden Nash who penned these lines, and the gentleman in Warrenton should frame a copy:
Thirty days November hath,
Unfit for human living,
Including one Election Day,
And a hide-and-seek Thanksgiving.
