County Marked Timber
During; the past six months, from January 1 to July 1, approximately 3,201,000 board feed of sawtimber was marked and estimated for harveeiting by the Virginia Forest Service in Rappahannock county. This volume of sawtimber was selected and cub according to proper forestry prac. tices, which include the marking of only mature, overmature, diseased, and damaged trees and the leaving of young, . thrifty, growing trees for a future cut-: ting. «. During the same period, about 1,374 acres of woodland were examined and reported on by the Virginia Forest Service in this county. Many landowners were given advice and recommendations concerning their various problems toward the correct' management of their woodlands.
