Under Rev. R. C. Davis work has begun on the project of putting running water in the church and modern conveniences. Contract has been let and work started. We hope to put in a new floor and baptizing pool before we stop.

After the Mt. Salem Church disbanded, they united with the First Baptist Church of Washington.

This church is a member of the Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Association, and has entertained that body twice—1904 and 1949.

This church has licensed two ministers—Rev. John W. Dennis, who lives in Washington, D.C.; and Rev. R. J. Green, A.B. Bth.D.D. now Dean of Morgan College, Little Rock, Arkansas.

The Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Sunday School-Union was founded and organized in the First Baptist Church by a member of this church who has served as president of the organization ever since its organization (1914-1951). This organisation gave a $410.00 scholarship to a young minister last year.

Before Main street was macadamized the church built a boprd walk from the corner of Wheeler and Main streets to the church. .
