Sperryville No. 1 4-H club met Wednesday, January 1 with Evelyn Millar, presiding. Elsie Mae Jenkins, opened the meeting with devotionels. Elmer Foster, song leader, led the group in singing. Members earning 4-H pins this year included: Elmer Foster, Jr., tarry Dodson, Herman Dodson, Ennis Jenkins, Jr., Jackie Sisk, Glen Updike, ILB. Atkins, Audrey Pullen, Edna Dodson, Eleanor Jenkins, Nancy Zinn, Elsie Mae Jenkins, Jean Jenkins, Neville Wood, Evelyn Miller, Robert Atkina, Randall Updike and Mary Norman Davis. Judy Black gave a demonstration on Stating the table. Outing the project .work the girls studied good table service and value of a good breakfast.
Forest Grove 4-H met Wednesday, January 2. Barbara Cabbage and Barbara Dodson opened the meeting by leading the group in singing. Committees appointed were: School: Harold Raye Uts and Ranny Gore; Finance: Jimmy Atkins and Dorothy Jenkins; Sick: Adolph Estes and Barbara Anne Cubbage. Members earning their 1 4-H pins were: Earl Gore, Harold Raye Utz, Melvin Williams, Dorothy Jenkins, Barbara Dodson and Barbara Cubbage. During the project work girls received help in making a head scarf.
Amissville 4-H club met Friday, January 4. Donald Settle, president opened the meeting. Pins earned by 4-H’ers included: Ashby Green, Donald Settle/ Shirlean Dodson, Jfoyce Walters, Hilda Settle, Betty Scott, and Jane Riley. A large 4-H calendar was given to the school and each member received a small calendar. Mrs. Catherine Riley, leader, helped the girls in making a head scarf and making a clothing inventory.
Mrs. Wade Pullen and the agent attended a two day upholstery workshop and tied springs and upholstered chairs.
