Council Discusses
Breaking of Street Lights
The continuing problem of the concerned discussion at the town council meeting in Washington on Tuesday evening. The town ordinance is very definite on this matter and the expense of replacing light bulbs is too large.
Many matters were discussed in the hearing of reports from various committees. It was reported that the Northern Virginia Power Company had donated the current for the Christmas lights. A suggestion was made that a permanent evergreen be .planted to serve annually as a Christmas tree. Another committee also reported that Guy Burke had agreed to paint yellow strips on the side of the street at the corner of Main and Middle streets to help the parking problem. New “no parking" signs are to be purchased to replace worn out ones at the fire house and the theatre. Another committee reported the highway department’s agreement to fix a culvert.
Many other iteigs of business regarding the up-keep of tile town streets, the maintaining of order at certain places, were discussed and attended to.
The treasurer reported a balance of $4,148.12, of which 83000 is on savings at the Rappahannock National Baltic. * .. Jf *
