The ladies of the church auxiliary served a bountiful and excellent lunch. Tables were decorated with gilded magnolia leaves and the place cards were clever paper piggy-banks with a shiny new penny in the top of each.
J. Rodes Brown, Jr., as toastmaster, was so dignified it looked painful. . After all the “sass” the customers have to take from him in the bank, his dignified appearance made him almost unrecogftizable.
ifcr FREAK CALF HAS 3 TONGUES
A calf, born January 7 at the F.T. Valley farm of Mrs. C. R. Hite, is one for “Believe It Or Not.’ The calf has an abnormal head formation, with double jawbones and three tongues.
At .first it appeared the calf would die of starvation, for it could not eat, but Irving Burton, a tenant on the place, has taken over the job of feeding and has succeeded in keeping the peculiar animal alive.
Mrs. Hite, who statees she has net seen the calf, has given the care of-the animal to Mr. Burton and, if it lives, they plan to Veal it at 200 pounds. Mrs. Hite reports that this deformed calf is the third of one cow; of the other two, one was blind and one was normal. 1 1' •' !**-w.
