Firemen’s Festival Opens
For Friday and Satorday
Amissvilie Firemen will hold their first Firemen’s Festival for two evenings, Friday and Saturday, . September 26 and 27. A varied program is planned with fun for all, culminating in a big event Saturday night. A parade of visiting fire companies will be held Friday evening at 6 o’clock, starting off a big night of entertainment. Amissvilie Volunteer Fire Department, with its Auxiliary, a new organization, has shown a working spirit in beginning their fire company. With two pieces of equipment on hand, the fire company members are going to work to build housing for the trucks. The Firemen’s Festival is the first project of the new company as a fund-raising campaign.
The ladies Auxiliary to the fire company has been busy in arranging Festival games and food stands. Mrs. Elmer Jenkins is president of the auxiliary, with Mrs. Graham Hackley as vice-president, Mrs. Toni Tear as secretary, and Mrs. Mitchell Green, treasurer.
Everyone is invited to attend the Firemen’s Festival; have a good time, and encourage the volunteer firemen in getting started with their company.
D. D. Miller, Vocational-Agricultural Instructor, accompanied some of his students to Richmond on Tuesday to attend the Atlantic Rural Exposition. Thosfe who went were Charles Corder, Dabney Eastham and Alfred Sealock.
