Miss Barbara Ann Brown, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Atkins Brown, of Sperryville, became the bride of Charles Edward Payne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Payne of Washington, pn Saturday afternoon, October 4, at 4:30 in the Arlington Methodist Church, with Rev. Harry W. Backhus, pastor of the church, officiating the double ring ceremony.
The church was decorated with palms, white lillies, and candelabra with lighted candles. Mrs. Hudson Roseberry, organist, played the wedding music and Miss Jo Ellen Worth of Madison Cdllege and Washington, sang ‘‘Because” and "The Lord's Prayer." i Given in marriage by her uncle, Carlton Atkins, the bride wore a gown of lace and satin. Her fingertip veil fell from a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a white prayer book topped with a white orchid. Mrs. Betty Brown White, of Winchester, sister of the bride, was matron of honor# and wore green satin and net and carried fall flowers. Other attendants were Miss Joan Kelly Aylor,. and Mrs. Joseph Henry Aylor. Theirdresses were honey-colored and fashioned like that of the matron of honor and carried fall flowers.
