One thing is certain. If Grandpa could be here in Mississippi on election day he would whale the tar out of a lot of us of his sons and daughters if he found them “going fishing.” Grandpa would say, “What’s all this talk about going fishing? Haven’t you got the guts to uphold decency in government? Is this the kind of kids I have brought up?” About this time Grandpa would start in breaking fishing o poles over his knee or over somebody’s something else. Don't kid yourgelf about old Grandpappy. H^was a Democrat true and blue but he was a Democrat true and blue because the Democratic Party represented his finest conception of government.
