The re-districting seems to noia plans of placing Rappahannock with Fauquier county, if Culpeper gets put into a district with Orange for representation in the House of Delegates. A conversation of the when’s and if’s furnishes much information; such as, if Culpeper goes in with Orangey that leaves the Hon. Norman Bailey of Orange as a Delegate and also the Hon. D. French Slaughter of Culpeper from that territory. Then, again, another if: if Rappahannock gets placed in with Fauquier, then the Delegate there is Tom Frost, a new member of the House of Delegates, but popularly received and recognized as a wide a-wake, business-like representative of his people in the Assembly.
The appointment of the new judge brings Rappahannock conversation back to one theme: it’s about time Rappahannock had "something.” The Delegates have come from an adjoining county for many years; the Senator is from over the mountain in Warren county; Loudoun has just had the judge and the two before him came from Fauquier; and then Rappahannock begins the same tune, second verse just like the first, “it’s about time for Rappahannock to get a break.”
With the Commonwealth Attorney named by the bar of the county, there has been recounting of favorable signs pointing to the ~ naming of Rayner V. Snead a$ the next district judge. It is understood generally that the Governor will name the new judge and speculation is high as to whether Rappahannock will have a chance against Fauquier and Loudoun.
The waiting is furnishing plenty of talk and speculation.
