Buying a snowsuit? Then you*ll be interested in these tips from Miss I. Byrd Johnson, clothing specialist at VPI.
Raglan sleeves allow freedom of movement and growth. Wristlets and anklets of the knit variety, long enough to'double back, the first year, make it possible to> use the snowsuit at least two years. Inside wristlets give added protection.
The lighter, water-repellent suits are satisfactory for Virginia climate. In extreme cold, a sweater or heavier suit jacket .can be used under the snowsuit. A good fitting collar which will keep the child warm without the need of a scarf is another suggested feature.
Look also for: bright colors for safety (driver can see child easily) ; fast color, easily cleaned, wind and water repellent fabrics; designed to make it easy for the child to dress and undress; slide fasteners at ankles; easy side openings; a zipper guard flap; patches on knee and seat; bib in front and back of pants with adjustable suspenders.
Some manufacturers are giving a height-weight chart for size. Others have devised other measurements to help fit correctly. Be sure to check the label for this information, and to see how the garment should be cared for before deciding to buy.
