September 1, 1946, to February 1, 1946, he was assistant to the director of publicity and then was promoted to director.
In 1946, Wilmington college graduated Ira Gossett Hawk with a degree of Bachelor of Arts. Then he enrolled at Ohio State University where he majored in public relations and journalism; graduating in 1947 with a degree of Master of Arts.
For the next five years he served as director of public relations and admissions and instructor of journalism at Wilmington college. He was in charge of all publicity, alumni relations, college publications, student recruitment and selection of new students, photoggraphy, special events, production of college radio and video programs. These duties would seem to have been enough to keep anyone busy, but somehow Hawk also found time to assist with the col-* lege fund-raising work and to teach courses in journalism and radio. »
