VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL HAS LARGE ATTENDANCE
With a Monday enrollment of 73 pupils and 12 teachers, the Washington Vacation Bible School had an excellent beginning. The teachers and the four departments are:
Intermediate—Mrs. Gilbert Updike and Mrs. Grace Reid. Juniors—Miss Mary Miller Wood and Mrs. G. M. Profitt. Primaries—Mrs. Frank Jones and Mrs. Lewis Turner. Beginners— Miss Mary Jenkins, Mrs. Morgan Johnston and Doris Woodard.
Mrs. G. M. Profitt is leading the singing and Miss Frances Walker is pianist. Secretary of the Community School is Mrs. Virgil Updike. Helping the boys with their wood work are Virgil Updike and Rev. Profitt.
Good Clean Fun
For two years the dances under the auspices- of the Sperryville Fire Department have been gaining a good reputation. The excellent music and the gentlemenly behavior of those attending have offered opportunity .for wholesome entertainment for the old and the young in the vicinity and neighboring towns.
First under the management of the Ladies Auxiliary, the dances later were taken over by the firemen. When farm chores began to monoplize the firemen's time, the Ladies Auxiliary took charge of sponsoring the dances. * During the time that the dances have been held, orchestras have been secured from Front Royal and Luray.
This Friday -flight the Ladies Auxiliary to the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Company are sponsoring another dance. From 9:30 to 1:30 the dancers will dance to the music of The Cavaliers in the Sperryville School auditorium.
