It’s Box Rent Now—
An irate citizen, with his feathers decidedly, ruffled, requested his county newspaper to voice his indignation editorially. His ire was on edge because he discovered his post office box rent had gone up in price over 300%!
“I thought the people voted for economy last fall,” he fumed. “I didn’t know this was the way to get it!”
This editorial expression will be a little difficult, since the writer was not listed among those who “wanted a change.” However, the majority rules, and a “change” is what we have. Part of the “novus ordo seclorom” seems to be a hike in post office box rent.
Being one of those “has-been” Democrats, we're amused at the howl. Last year at this time, any wrong or ill-doing was entirely the fault of those “narsty Democrats.” The Republicans are in power now (in case you hadn’t heard), and, since 6-million more people wanted a “change” than those who didn’t: well, it looks like time to say, “You buttered your bread, now lie in it.”
Don’t begrudge the poor ole’ government its 30-plus per cent increase in post office box rent. They’ve got to get money from somewhere. After all, Congress
