As incentive for the boy to work hard and do his best, Sears Roebuck and Co. has made the following prizes available: First—$60 towards the purchase of livestock; 2nd—$25 towards the purchase of livestock or livestock equipment; 3rd—$15 towards the purchase of livestock or equipment and fourth and fifth—$5 cash to boys doing creditable work. The 1953-1954 chain got underway Friday when Mrs. VV. A. Moore invited all the boys and their parents from the Flint Hill community who were interested in one of the gilts to be placed this year to her home for a discussion of alt the project requirements and drawing of the pigs. Seven boys drew from . the hat for five pigs and the following boys were lucky enough to pick a winner. Buddy Moore, son of W. A. Moore, Eddie Sutphin, son of Raymond Sutphin, Charles Leak, guardian Miss Elsie Dodson, Ivory Atkins, son of Ivory Atkins Sr., and Elmer Foster, son of Elmer Foster Sr. These boys will pick up their pigs within the next two weeks.

Mrs. Holmes Hall entertained the Woman's Missionary Society at her home, “Shingle Shanty” on Saturday afternoon with 12 members and 5 visitors present. Mrs. James Atkins was the leader and the G. A.’s presented the program. The subject for the month was “The Value of Christian Education.”
