Governor Thomas B. Stanley has sent his encouragement to the Anti-Litterbug Campaign that began May 16 in the 13 counties and three cities that make up the Culpeper Highway District in, Northern and Central Virginia.
The Governor expressed hi$ hope that the volunteer educatipnal program, under the auspices of the Virginia Anti-Litterbug Council, will be extended later throughout Virginia. The statement was released today by Giles H. Miller, Jr, president of The Culpeper National Bank and chairman of the District Anti-Litterbug Campaign.
Governor Stanley said; “The trash, strewn along our highways Imposes considerable expense upon' pin* Department of Highways and fears the beauty of our landscape. In many instances it becomes a public nuisance and traffic hazard*
“It is encouraging to witness this voluntary’effort to make ouij highways safer and neater, and I trust the endeavor will meet with the support of every Virginian.”
Farmers, Prepare To Store Your Wheat
“Farmers need storage space to take advantage of the 1954 Wheat Prrice Support Program,” said E. D. Duncan, Chairman of the Virginia State ASC Committee. Mr. Duncan pointed out that while price support on 1954 wheat are available aj 90 per cent of parity this means nothing to the farmer who cannot find commercial storage space and who has no storage facilities on his farm.
