Mr. Barksdale also explained that the favorable Vote in the referendum would mean that growers who exceed their 1955 - wheat allotment will be subject to penalty equal to 45 percent of parity on May 15, 1955 on excess wheat production. The penalty on the 1954 wheat crop is $1.12 per bushel.. If growers reject wheat quotas in the referendum, there will be no marketing penalty in effect. For purposes of price support the 1955 wheat program is somewhat stricter than that of the 1954 program. To be eligible for price support on any crop produced on the farm in 1955, the producermust comply with all acreage allotment established for his farm for that year. On farms where the crop allotments call for a diverted acreage of more than ID acres, there will be established a total acreage allotment for the farm for all allotment crops within which the producer must plant to be^eligible for price support.
