Dear Editor:
All around Flint Hill the question is being asked, “Why was the carnival such a success?” The answer, I believe, is that every man, woman, and child in Wakefield District gave generously and freely of his time, talent and money. No job was too big, nor, as it sometimes happens, too small, but that there was a volunteer ready to do it.
The carnival planning committee which started with no experience, formed a framework so good that each individual felt that there was something which he could contribute in the building of the carnival. To that committee, each of which gave so much, a great amount of the credit for 'success is due. To that committee should go a vote of thanks for. allowing people to choose the job at which they could feel they could do their best work.
One of our oldest citizens made and contributed one of the loviest pieces of handwork exhibited; one of our youngest got himself lost and gave the Boy Scouts their chance for a good deed. No children in the community saw less of the carnival than the Boy Scouts. They had the thankless job of parking the multitude of cars, and under the direction of their Scout Master, they worked far, iar into the night. Few complaints were heard from the Scouts.
