We were proud of the behavior at the carnival in Washington this past week. The citizens, of the county were cooperative, arid in addition, the carnival itself appeared to be a clean show.

Set For August 23
The Annual Public Meeting on the Budget was set by the Washington Town Council, in their August meeting Tuesday night, for Monday. August 23 at 8 p.m. All persons having requests for changes in the year’s budget should appear before the board with their arguments,
Mrs. J. W. Critzer, Council member and Mayor Mrs. George Davis will represent the town of Washington in the Municipal Convention in Roanoke on September 19, 20, and 21.
The council approved the recommendation of several council members that Downing Wood be contacted in regards to the street by his packing shed being blocked by trailers. The council will request that the street be blocked only when trailers are loading and unloading.
A trash can has been obtained for placement in the playground. “Thus picnickers will have some where to dispose of trash. Current bills were heard and approved by the council.
