in Virginia follows a seasonal pattern. Few cases are reported in the first six months of the year; from the middle of July through the first week in September an increasing number of cases occur each week, with a general decline following this. In Virginia, as in the rest of the country, there are not many cases as had been reported last.year at this time. Simple precautions taken, may prevent the spread of the disease:
1. Do not go places where polio is occurring.
2. Avoid crowds and unnecessary travel by common conveyance. Keep your children within their own groups.
3. *Avoid fatigue; avoid chilling.
4. Carefully wash hands before eating and after using the toilet. «.
5. Postpone nose and throat operations and, in children over six months of age, postpone routine immunizations.
6. Parents should pay attention to changes in the normal state of health of their children. Call a physician if there are symptoms of headache, nausea, upset stomach, fever, muscle soreness or stiffness. Do not borrow trouble or worry, but be calmly alert.
