Traveling with light hearts and light luggage, sixteen ladies

Traveling with light hearts and light luggage, sixteen ladies and one brave man started for Williamsburg on July 20th. The ladies were homemakers from Castleton, Sperryvilie, Washing-. ton, Flint Hill, Huntly, and Massanova Homemakers’ clubs, and Paul Thompson of Sperryvilie, , was the lone man. The two-day trip had been planned by Mrs. Paul Thompson and she had made all arrangements for lodging in Williamsburg.

A flat tire was the only cause of excitement on the way to the colonial city and Mr. Thompson proved his value by helping to change it. This afforded a 7th inning stretch for the ladies and a

Everyone was anxious to get started sight-seeing and as there was little time left before the historic buildings were to close for the day, they walked to Bruton Parish Church. The lecturer was about to make his final talk for, the day, and the travelers were fortunate enough to hear it. IHs a1 strange feeling to know one is treading on the very floor atid into . the Very building where George Washington, Patrick H e n r y, Thomas Jefferson and many more * equally famous men.once worshipped. Much of this historic building is original as it was not destroyed in the fire that swept Williamsburg in the early days. The oldest baptismal font in this countryis in this ancient church, brought there from Jamestown. Offerings of tourists keep this church open for inspection of the public and it is not under the Colonial Williamsburg restoration project. It is one of the most interesting sights in the city, how' ever.

Afte/ dinner at the lodge, the tourists went out to Lake Matoaka to see the pageant “The Common Glory.” Since there was such a large group, special attention was given to finding good seats.
