HOGS ? Watch for hog prices to level out in next two to three week and then ease downward to about a $13 price. The nation had a 12 per cent larger pig crop this spring but latest reports from growers in the 10 corn belt states indicate that they have slowed down on their intended fall farrowing schedules.
Intentions reported in June for fall farrowings of this year werq seven per cent above last year but September reports show an increase of only five per cent.
The same states—which produce three-fourths of the nation’s hogs indicated in June that September through November farrowings would be up eight per cent. So far, these are only running five per cent greater.
Inventory’ in these states for September 1 shows a five per cent increase in the three to six months group; three per cent hike in the under three months group and a six per cent increase over six months.
