Turning In Park
The colorful autumn season is expected somewhat sooner this year in Shenandoah National Park as an early frost and prolonged dry spell have caused many of the trees and vines to change prematurely. According to Superintendent R. Taylor Hoskins, each day from now until the end of October will bring a noticable change in the annual display of brilliance. Some species of vegetation at the higher levels in the Central District have turned, and it is anticipated that with several days precipitation, the tall pageant may last longer throughout the Park’s length. Present indications point to the period between October 10 and 20 as the peak of coloration, and preparations are being made throughour the Park to welcome the many visitors who plan to enjoy this natural attraction.
