District 4-H Contest
4-H Home Economics Demonstration Contests were held April 23 at Madison, at which time contestants gave demonstrations on some phase of a project she was carrying. Points considered by the judges were accuracy of subject matter presented, knowledge of the skills and practices used, manner of presentation and poise of each demonstrator.
A Style Dress Revue with participants from 15 counties was also a high-light of the event.
Girls over 14 years of age from 19 counties in Northern Virginia took part in ten contests. The two girls placing first in each event will represent the district in state contests during the 4-H Short Course at VPI in June. They will compete with winners from five other Extension districts in the state.
Judy Kay Lillard of Flint Hill received a white award in a bread demonstration. She gave a demonstration on making muffins.
Others from Rappahannock attending were Judy Faye Lillard, Tish Kilby of Sperryville Senior Club; Dottie Davis, Kay Johnston from Washington Senior Club and Miss Anna Ruth Barnette, Home Agent.
