How Well Can Your
Child Read?
E'xerpts of an editorial in the April 15th issue of the Drovers Journal entitled “Federal Aid No School Cure-All” seems timely. To quote but a'few sentences: “Reading and self-study are the corneistones of learning.Many of our children do not read simply because they are not taught, encouraged, or given a place to read...Two few parents themselves read and take the trouble to introduce their chil - dren to the joys of reading.good reading. The biggest fault seen in today’s high school graduates who try to enter college is that they don’t know how to read.”
Rappahannock is on the verge of turning out a new crop of high school graduates, completing a new high school and getting a library. There isn’t- much that can be done now toward encouraging the graduates to get the reading habit but when it comes to our new school and the library we will have provided a better place to read and ultimately good reading material. This is our business, your responsibility as well as mine. Older ones set the example.kids are copycats of either their parents or older brothers or sisters.
