Former Local 4-H’ers
At Chicago Exposition
Three former Rappahannock 4-H Club members, now students at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, are in Chicago this week as members of the V.P.I. Livestock Judging Team to compete at the International Livestock Exposition there, Saturday, November 24.
Jack Sisk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Sisk of Sperryville, and Glen and Randall Updike, sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Updike, Washington, along with four other Virginia boys, make up the team.
The V.P.I. group has been winning honors in east coast competition this season. At the Pennsylvania Livestock Exposition in Harrisburg the Virginia Tech team placed 8th in colleg iate judging. Randall Updike placed first in sheep judging at this show.
At the Eastern National Livestock Exhibition in Baltimore, the team placed 4th in overall competition and Randall Uudike was high man in the overall contest. He was top in cattle and second in swine judging and received a gold Hamilton watch in addition to the Shorthorn trophy.
Jack Sisk did not judge in the eastern competition, but joined the group for the trip to Chicago.
All three of the boys are graduates of Rappahannock County High School.
