Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Updike spent Thursday in Ruckersville with Janies Baunt and son. On Friday Mr. and Mrs. Updike spent the day With Mrs. Naomi Boyd in Browntown.
Guests during the weekend of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Aylor were their son and daughter, Buddy Aylor and Miss Joan Aylor of Arlington, Miss Derry Robbe of Winchester. During last week Mrs. Thomas Cozzo of Arlington spent several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aylor.
Miss Eda Finks spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Rodes Brown.
IN THE SERVICE...
Great Lakes, 111. — Joseph P. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Brown of Sperryville, is undergoing nine weeks of basic recruit training at the Naval Training Center here.
The indoctrination to Navy life consists of physical fitness drills, military drills, basic military law, customs and etiquette of the naval service, swimming and survival, first aid and basic shipboard routine.
During the training, recruits receive tests and interviews that determine future training and assignments in the Navy.
