Our estimates for 1963 are! conservative. At two calves per minute around 15% hours of hard physical labor would be required to get calves unloaded and penned. People, who work hard for as many consecutive j hours ,are likely to make more errors. Errors in weighing, grading, penning, etc. Also at the calf sale season there is only about 11% hours of daylight.
What adjustments must be made for the growing pains our sale will experience? Our Angus breeders must decide this.
Those who have not yet completed and turned in your report, please do so at once. After all estimates are in and summarized, your sale officers and directors have much investigating of possible adjustments. What alternative can be worked out?
Other sales handling 1500 and more head in one sale have received on two days. Could we receive on Monday afternoon, all day Tuesday and sell on Wednesday? If so, where? If we sell on Wednesday, would Fredericksburg breeders be willing to sell on Tuesday? Etc. Etc.
