I visited the Plant on Friday the 18th, and had a conference with the Management. In all. fairness to the Management and for the information of anyone who has heard the same reports that have come to me I want to report the situation as I found it.
On Jan. 18ih there were’?* total of 160 employees on the payroll. Of this number 87 were Rappahannock people and the remainderwerefrom other counties. Mr. Richards the manager who has not been in this position many weeks, and who was not familiar with the financial detailscon* corning the establishment of the Plant in this community, told me when he came on the job he found a great many more applications from the Front Royal area than from Rappahannock County. As he called in additional people, he began hiring them on a proportionate basis. This resulted in the present ratio of employees.
