Mrs. Josie M. Allen
Mrs. Josie Mae Allen of Washington, D. C., formerly of Washington, Va., died Friday, January 18, l963following an illness. Daughter of the late William Smedley and Julie Ann Clark, his wife, and a native of Rappahannock County. Mrs. Allen had resided in Washington, D. C., for the past 15 years where she was employed in the Eastern Star Home. She was 64. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Newton, of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Clark of Winchester and Mrs. Janie Beahm of Washington, Va,; and two brothers, James Smedley of Winchester and Louis Smedley of Washington, D. C. Funeral services were held Monday, January 21, at the Geest funeral chapel, with interment following in Sperryville Cemetery. The family pastor, the Rev. B. Gayle Titchenell, conducted the last* rites. Pallbearers were George W. Beahm, S. A. Beahm, Jr., Cleveland Smedley, Earl Smedley, Paul Clark and I. H. Beahm, all nephews.
