James River Float
For a welcome break from the steady grind, a business associate and I decided recently that a bass fishing float trip would be just the ticket. Our first choice was the Rapidan River, a smallmouth stream we have been interested in fishing all spring, but a call to the Orange county game warden revealed that it was muddy and swollen. Based on this report and the storm pattern the previous week, we concluded that the Shenandoah River would not be in the best shape either. But from Fluvanna county game warden Wesley Haden we learned that the James River was clear west of Scottsville.
