Alexandria, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Payne and family of Inlet, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Dennis and family of Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon D. Henderson andfamily of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Judle Beddingfield and daughter of Henderson, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dwyer of New Salem left Saturday morning, June 1st to attend the graduation exercises at Bluefidld College, Bluefield Va. Their son Marshall Edward Dwyer was graduated in this year’s class. They returned home by way of Richmond, accompanied by Miss Barbara Stevens of Richmond who was a freshman last term at Bluefield College. Marshall is working .this summer with a construction company and plans to enter a senior college in the fall. Mrs. Janie Aylor and Miss Hester Hawkins of Novum spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dwyer. Miss Hawkins returned to Novum on Monday morning where she is caring for Mrs. £lla Aylor. The Rev. and Mrs. Dewey Underwood and children Barbara and Roy of Novum left Monday morning for a three weeks vacation in Narquez, Texas. Rev. Underwood preached on the 9th at Slate Mills Baptist Church. The Rev. W. B. Dennis of Slate Mills will preach the 4th Sunday while Rev. Underwood is away Mr. and Mrs. Olney Kennedy visited Shelton Scroggins of Lignum Wednesday in Culpeper Memorial Hospital where he is a patient following a heart attack.
