Broken Ankle in Fall
Mrs. H. W. Lehman of Amiss ville is a patient in the National Orthopedic Hospital in Arlington with a broken ankle. Mrs. Lehman was picking apples for her pet monkey when the aluminum ladder on which she was standing slipped and she fell to the ground. She will be hospitalized for about ten days.
THRIFT SALES END THIS WEEK
Friday and Saturday, October 11 and 12 will be the last two days of the Thrift Sales which the Ladies Auxiliary to the Washington Fire Company are holding in the post office building at Washington. There are still many good bargains to be had in clothing, dishes, and numerous other articles.
Book Purchase Urged
For Local Library
The Book Selection Committee for the Rappahannock Library held its first regular meeting Wednesday, October 2 at the Library. After reviewing their assets and hearing a report from Mrs. B. M. Miller, the Committee recommended the purchase of what will be the beginning of a selected list of excellent basic reference books on science, art, selected books on Literature, biography, history and geography. The Committee also expressed its gratification at the splendid response to the plea for the gift of books and wishes to thank the donors.
