Katharine Gibbs School, New York announces that Miss Alice T. Wood, Washington, Virginia is on the Dean’s List. It is further learned that Miss Wood received the highest grade in her class. She is the daughter of Mrs. F. Downing Wood and the late Mr. Wood and granddaughter of Mrs. C. G. Reid of Washington, and a 1963 graduate of Rappahannock County High School. Hampden -Sydney C o 11 e ge, Hampden-Sydney, Virginia advises that Barney K. Pauze, Woodville, 1b on the Fi r s t Honor Roll for the period ending February 1. Mr. Pauze is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pauze' and is a 1962 graduate of Rappahannock County High School.

Veteran Retires
Washington, D. C.—Master Chief Electrician* s Mate Charles H. Dwyer, U. S. Navy (42), son of Mrs. Margaret M. Dwyer of Sperryville, retired today from active duty and was transferred to the Fleet Reserve. As his final official act, he inspected personnel of the U. S. Navy Train lng Publications Center, Wash lngton, D. C., where he served as a technical advisor and writer. The Center prepares training manuals and correspondence courses for the officers and enlisted men and women of the U. S. Navy and Naval Reserve, and curricula for the Navy’s extensive school program. Dwyer, a veteran of 21 years active duty, enlisted in the Navy in November 1942, completed recruit training in Norfolk, Virginia, and then served in the Destroyer, USS Charles F. Hughes (DD-428), which participated in Allied landings at Anzio and in South ern France. He has since served in various ships of the U. S. Atlantic and Pacific Fleets. Prior to, reporting to .the Training Publications Cen ter, he was assigned to the Attack Cargo Ship, USS Capricornus (AKA-57), a unit of the Atlantic Fleet. The Capricornus played an active part in the Lebanon crisis in August 1958. He is married to the former Leah Jamed of Wilkes Barre Pa. The couple have four children, Sandra (12), Charles (6), James (5), and Patricia (2), and live in Woodbrldge, Va.
