Self-employed farmers are virtaully assured social security protection for themselves and their dependents by a special provision in the social security law according to Mrs. Hazel F. Daly, social security District Manager,and Mr. A. M. Stoepler, District Director of Internal Revenue. Mrs. Daly stated that farm owners and operators who have a gross income as little as $600 a year can get social security credit by using an optional method for figuring their net annual earnings. Mr. Stoepler summarized the optional provision as follows:
