Milton Grimsley Hitt of Elchin on d, a. district superintendent of surplus property for the State Department of Education, died July 16, 1964. A son of the late Booton Hitt and Mrs. Agnes Grimsley Hitt of Castleton, Rappahannock County, he attended the*Uniiversity of Richmond, Columbia University and the University of Virginia. He had served as high school principal and teacher in Prince Edward, Sussex and Washington counties, having joined the Department of Education in 1946. He had also been a member of the faculty at the University of Richmond. He was a member of Gourdville Baptist Church, Culpeper County.
Mr. Hitt is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nina Bass Hitt, and two daughters, Carolyn and Anne Hitt, of Richmond, and a brother, Frederick Hitt of Rixeyville, Culpeper County. A funeral service was held Saturday at Bennett funeral home in Richmond. Burial was made in Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery at Rice, Prince Edward County.
