LIBRARY CORNER
The Librarians are noting with pleasure a lively interest being shown by the younger readers in such favorites as “Gone With the Wind”, of which the library has several copies. They will be glad to point out and recommend other wellknown works to provide pleasurable hours of reading in the long summer days ahead. Have YOU read any good poetry lately? One may also find books written by such keen political minds as the late President John F. Kennedy and others. Reading these could help in forming a background of understanding during this election year. Library hours: 10 to 12 on Saturday, 2 to 5 on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Miller returned to their home in East Hampton, Conn, last week after visiting Mrs. Miller’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Latham. MIbs Brenda Dunn of Chevy Chase, Md. spent last week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Latham and is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Doyle. Guests Friday of Mr. ana Mrs. C. A. Smith were Mrs. Edward Schurtz and sons, Gary, Roy and Stanley of Springfield, and Danny, David, and Dean Hitt, sons of Mr, and Mrs. Floyd Hitt. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Green and children, Melody and C. M. spent from Friday until Sunday in Washington, D. C. Sunday they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Miller in McLean.
Paul Smith is a patient in Winchester Memorial Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Payne and son Billy left Friday for Virginia Beach where they will stay a week. Mr. and Mrs. J. Richard Latham, Miss Judy Latham and Jim and Cliff Latham spent from Sunday until Wednesday at Ocean City, Md. Mrs. Alvin James and daughters, Mrs. L. J. Davis and Mrs. James Harrup of Charlottesville and Mrs. James grandchildren, Julie and Joey Davis, Carl, David, Carolyn, Garland and Billy James and A1 and Johnny Harrup recently visited Old Virginia City in Fairfax, Dulles International Airport, Chantilly, and Skyline Caverns, Front Royal. On July 11, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin James, Mrs. L. J. Davis and children, Billy James and A1 Harrup joined Mr. and Mrs. James Harrup and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Chapman in Charlottesville for a picnic in McIntyre Park. Mrs. A. C. Latham and Mrs. Norvel James spent Monday In Charlottesville. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Estes of Arlington, Miss Gertie Estes, Richmond Mrs. Minnie Estes, Culpeper and Mrs. Reaecca Harrup, Charlottesville were recent dinner guests of Vfr. and Mrs. Alvin James.
