Culpeper Hospital
Receives $12,000
A gift of $12,000 to Culpeper Memorial Hospital has been made by the Armstrong Foundation in memory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Armstrong of Gilnockie Farm at Haywood, Madison County.
J. Carlton Clore, a member of the Hospital Fund Committee, reported that Mr. Frank Armstrong, Jr., President of the National Fruit Pro duct Company of Winchester, trustee of the Armstrong Foundation, stated the Foundation would make this gift. Mrs. W. Barron Glover, sister of Frank Armstrong, Js and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong, is also a trustee of the Armstrong Foundation, in addition to William Hildreth of Charlottes ville. During the approximately 20 years Mr.andMrs. Armstrong lived at Haywood, they were well known for their worthwhile contributions to all phases of community life. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong’s farm, Gilnockie, bacame nationally known as a breeding farm of registered Aberdeen-Angus cattle. Through sale of breeding stock to local farmers, the quality of beef cattle in this area was much improved. Mr.' Armstrong gave funds to build and furnish Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at Haywood, one of the most beautiful churches in this section. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong, both natives of West Virginia, moved in 1908 from Clarks burg, West Virginia to Washington, where they made their
