With snap beans or summer squash, cook a tablespoon or two of minced onion, green pepper, or parsley. Cook a few mint leaves with peas. Put a small pinch of herb or spice in the water when you cook limas. A little vinegar and sugar heated together make a good dressing for snap beans or cabbage, with or without a few tablespoons of cream. Perk up the flavor of any green vegetable with meat drip pings, butter, margarine, or salad oil with lemon juice, horseradish, or garlic. Or add bits of crisply fried bacon, especially to spinach or other greens.

Miss Diane Woodward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Woodward, Jr., was a weekend guest of Dr. and Mrs. William Young in Alexandria. On Saturday they attended the New York World’s Fair. Mrs. John Woodward spent last week in Falls Church with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Woodward.
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Hitt and Mrs. O. T. Deal were Sunday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. John Raynor at Maurertown. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Settle of Manassas visited Mrs. Deal. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pate Tharp were Mr. and Mrs. Jake Tharp and son Freddie-and* Jimmy- Bailey of Culpeper and Lawrence Horner of Fairfax. Harvey Tharp of Culpeper was a patient in Culpeper Memorial Hospital from Tuesday until Friday with a back injury. Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Martin had as their visitors Sunday Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Smith of Amissville. Mrs. Ed Scott returned to her home Sunday after being a patient in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal. Miss Ann Cannon was a guest last week of Mr. and M^s. J. E.
