The marriage of Miss Eleanor Jenkins, daughter of Lamer Hugh Jenkins of Washington, Va., and the late Mrs. Jenkins, to Henry Willie ProfFitt of Richmond took place at three o’clock Sunday afternoon, August 23, 1964 in the Washington Baptist C h u r c h. Mr. Proffitt is the son of Branch Wallace Proffitt, Sr. and the late Mrs. Proffitt. The Rev. Arnold Sorrell, pastor of the church, performed the double ring ceremony.
Program of nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Paul Nichols of Flint Hill at the organ. The church was -decorated with ferns, white chrysanthemums and gladioli and lighted candles. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of antique white satin and lace, fashioned with a round neck edged in lace, a fitted bodice, short sleeves and self train. Her shoulder length veil fell from a braided-pearl coronet. She carried a bouquet of white butterfly roses and babys breath centered with a lavender orchid. Miss Judy Kaye Payne of Richmond, a cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Her short dress was of lavender satin with a matching veiled headpiece and her flowers were a nosegay of yellow daisy chrysanthemums and babys breath.
