Miss Mary Miller Wood returned by plane Monday evening from a summer's trip to the Continent and the British Isles. Among other interesting things Miss Wood had to report were the visits she made to the homes of Guy deFeraudy at LeMans, France, Andre Lanniche of Chevillon, France and Rasmus Edvardsen of Ket teminde, Denmark, pointing up the advantages of exchange visits. deFeraudy, Kanniche and Edvardsen were in Rappahannock in 1951 and spent 3 months in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Downing Wood learning American methods of farming. They then spent 3 months more in another section of the U. S. before returning home. Guy deFeraudy has a business in LeMans with a modern office employing 12 typists but also has a farm, with a week-end home, where his main interest is the growing of apples. He is married and has 6 children. Andre Lanniche is farming in Chevillon, a small village In the eastern section of France. His money crops are sugar beets, apples and potatoes and he has just set out a large pear orchard. He is married and also has 6 children.
Rasmus Edvardsen is farming in Kerteminde, Denmark, where he bought his father’s farm and raises apples, grain and hogs, is married and has two children.
