New Wheat Program

Is Good Insurance

“By signing now under the 1965 wheat program, growers can assure a crop income from wheat even with a total crop failure," H. S. Barksdale, Chairman of the Rappahannock ASC County Committee, reminded farmers today. “This 'insurance f ea t ur e’ seems to be one of the best of the many benefits the program offers," the Chairman remarked.

A grower who signs by October 2 to participate under the voluntary' 1965 wheat program has merely to meet the minimum program provisions to get this income protection on his planted acr& age. By meeting the minimum program requirements, he becomes eligible for certificate payments on wheat planted within his allotment. These payments are based on the farm’s normal yield times the certificate payment for each acre planted up to 80 per cent of the allotment. Certificate payments are in addition to the normal price support loans available on act ual production.
