plastic jar half full of suds. This serves as a miniature washer to loosen soil. Then pour off the sudsy water and rinse the same way. Use some special device, such as a flexible foam container shaped like a top-loading automatic washer. This is placed in a basin of suds, then squeezed up and down to force the suds through the hose. Rinsing is done the same way, using clean water. Put soiled nylons into a small net drawstring bag for sudsing, then hold this under running water for rinsing. Other precautions are important supplements to gentle laundering in adding mileage to nylons. Nylons should be stored safely in a smooth plastic bag or fabric hosiery case. Legs should be kept free of stubble, toenails should be filed smooth, and rough heels or potential calluses should be rubbed with a welllathered pumice stone.
