School is really in full swing now at R.C.H.S. With our summer over, we are ready to get down to a hard year’s work. The first S.C.A. meeting was held last Friday, September 17. S.C.A. stands for the Student Cooperative Association. The main objective is to promote understanding and cooperation between teachers and students. The officers for this year are*. Martha Shillingburg, President; Joan Lee, Secretary; Barbara Lillard, Treasurer; Linda Beahm, Reporter; Jo Ann Fox, Program Chairman. Representatives from each homeroom are: Patrick Alther, 12; Leslie Hayes and Carolyn Johnston, 11; Brenda Welch and Bonnie North, 10; Janice Clark and Jean Woodward, 9; James Cannon, Carty Moffett and Sharon Suter, 8. The Home Economics Classes honored the teachers last week with a tea. Senior girls took teachers’sixth period classes, while they enjoyed refreshments. High school rings have been standardized. They will be of solid yellow gold, with the modern Virginia seal on one side, and the crest symbolizing the atomic age, scholarship, truth, athletics and character building on the other side. In the center, will be an “Old English R“ surrounded by the words Rappahannock County High School. R.C.H.S. was filled with smiles Tuesday, for school pictures. There was not a frown to be seen.
