William L. Hitt
William Ludwell Hitt of Culpeper, formerly of Castleton,
Friday, September 18, 1964, at University of Virginia Hospital where he has been a patient for several days. A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Zachary and Sarah Hitt. He was 89. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Delsie Butler Hitt; eight sons, Taylor Hitt and Arthur Hitt, both of Culpeper, Downing Hitt, Charlie Hitt, and Lewis Hitt,, all of Castleton, Horace Hitt of Mitchells, Turner Hitt of Boston and Robert Lee Hitt of Reading, Pa.; seven daughters, Mrs. James Dellinger of Alexandria, Mrs. Charlie Jenkins of Washington, Va., Mrs. Annie Weakley of Mitchells, Mrs. JackKackley of West Virginia, Mrs. Jessie Weakley of Brightwood, Mrs. Grace Green of Amissville and Mrs. Raymond Shiflett of Gordonsville; 51 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Monday, September 21,at3;00 p.m. in the Geest funeral chapel, the Rev. Floyd T. Binns conducting the last rites. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Floyd Hitt, Frank Parker, NormanGrimsley, Ray T. Cannon, Dr. Evan H. Ashby, Jr., Kelly Weakley, Weldon Burke and Frank Knighting.
