Taking into consideration the whole of John Wesley’s accomplishments, Americans often place too much emphasis upon the trip of John and Charles to Georgia in 1736. By preaching so strenuously against frivolity there, John was able to accomplish nothing among the adults, but organized a Sunday School. Early in 1738 he was back in England where his incessant labors “in the vineyard of The Lord* despite persistent and intense opposition, resulted in a Church decidedly different from the Church of England, and which has grown in mem bership year after year in many countries. No matter what your denominational allegiance or leaning, you will find it a pleasure to read JOHN WESLEY, by May McNeer and Lynd Ward (Abingdon-Cokesbury Press, Nashville, 1951).
