Two Convicted

Of Drag Racing

Two Sperryville men have been convicted of drag racing in Rappahannock Circuit Court. Carrol Cornelius Frye, Jr. and Mark Garland Black entered a plea of guilty before Judge R. V. Snead. Both were sentenced to six months in jail but sentence was suspended on condition of good behavior for three years. Their operator’s licenses were suspended for six months. In this period, any violation will automatically make them liable for the sentence. Frye and Black were charged with drag racing August 16 and entered a plea of not guilty in county court before Judge T. C. Lea, Jr. on September 10. Upon being found guilty, they appealed the case to circuit court.

Jaycees Distribute Christmas Baskets

At a special JC meeting Monday night December 21 the Rappahannock JCs organized a project for providing Christmas baskets to be distributed to needy families of the county Sixty dollars was appropriated and eight baskets will be given The JCs would like to thank Mrs. Buntin of the public weh fare department for her cooperation in this project.
