Incident Reported
A single-car accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning on Route 231 at the intersection of Route 707 nine miles south of Sperryville. Charles I. Patton, Jr. of Winchester operating a *63 Corvair was proceeding north on Route 231 and as he topped the hill at the intersection the vehicle went out of control. The car ran off the left of the highway and struck a fence on the Earl Kilby farm. The driver was not injured. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $600 by Trooper Paul P. Dicks, who investigated.
Sperryville Firemen Plan Carnival
Sperryville firemen are busy with plans and preparations for their forthcoming annual carnival to be held July 14, 15, 16, and 17. The grand prize, a 65 Ford Fairlane, has been purchased. Extensive excavating has been done on the carnival grounds to improve the area and insure better facilities this year.
